Information in e-mails often ends up in databases that can be used against us by government agents. However, as Matt Taibbi points out, agents can just as easily destroy a database that might contain evidence of crimes in high places.
You can’t tell the cops (SEC) from the robbers
odd man out, as you are aware it was FDR who formed the SEC and appointed Joe Kennedy to run it. After FDR was informed that Kennedy had stolen millions of dollars from people like Gloria Swanson, he told Kennedy that he had been appointed because, “It takes a crook to know how the other crooks operate.” The difference between FDR and Clinton and Bush was that FDR kept on eye on Kennedy, whereas Clinton and Bush allowed the SEC to turn a blind eye to every transgression.
And let’s not forget Obama, after he took office in 2009, turned a blind eye to evidence of negligence, or worse, at SEC regarding the Wall Street firms it was supposed to be monitoring in the years leading up to the 2008 crash. Obama is, however, using the SEC to investigate S&P in revenge for the latter’s downgrading of the U.S. bond rating. As if the other rating agencies weren’t just as crooked.
