Straddling the line beautifully twixt punk and powerpop is John Peel’s favorite song of all time (hell, he has the chorus engraved on his tombstone), “Teenage Kicks” by the Undertones. The rare promo video for it is at:

It’s too bad Feargal Sharkey turned out such a Tory prick. Still one of the greatest undiscovered-in-the-US bands. Someone needs to make a commercial with “Teenage Kicks” as the music bed.
