This is really, really awful. You know, I can see their point (that people who really want to blow up a plane will use almost anything and anyone), but anyone who has a chronic problem that would require a closer look should be able to get some kind of private screening documentation that certifies them to pass.

I read John Perkins’ book when it first came out, and for some reason, I never finished it. So this week I picked it up again and boy, is it depressing.
“Hit Man” was attacked by many people as a far-fetched conspiracy theory. Those people must not do much reading. Which part bothers them: That corporations purposely saddle countries with unaffordable debt so they can dictate corporate-friendly policies, or that they never heard of such things, so it must not be true?

Please understand that this type of thing is so common in municipal bond deals, it’s almost not worth mentioning. And because many bids require the approval of another bank, they also commonly sign off on each others deals in a quid pro quo.
But it’s important because it’s where politicians and their supporters hide the biggest kickbacks. And you get to pay for it!
