Yet another ethical dilemma

It may have crossed your mind as curious that so many pacifist colonial Quakers took part in the Revolutionary War. The story is that Thomas Paine rather successfully framed the issue as one of self-defense, and thus allowed by their faith.

Which is why I’m wondering at what point latter-day Americans will come to the same conclusion.
