The ideas for reining in the bankers are great. I just don’t think there can be much progress on that or any of the issues OWS participants care about until there are significant changes in how campaigns are financed and in what kinds of lobbying are permissible. It’s only after we separate the moneyed interests from the politicians that the politicians will start thinking of themselves as being in charge of crafting good public policy.
