Would have been Janis Joplin’s 69th birthday. I’m kind of glad she’s not still around; she probably would have ended up doing some makeover show for money, and the indignity of that would have been too much to bear.

If you have never seen Janis in “Festival Express,” filmed the summer before her death, go and do so at once.
Not Janis, she would have been more like Etta James, making good music for decades, had she lived.
Truly, you underestimate and misunderstand Janis.
