  1. Obfuscation. People tend to associate “gas” with the liquid that goes in the tank, ill-informed as they are to the nature of a gas – at best (visibly) a vapor but essentially the air we breath. By drawing attention to the lack of or minimal liquid spilling out into the visible, out onto the ground, they distract from the gas spewing into the atmosphere.

    This is a great example of how not only the media but the educational system has calculated just how much information can be left out of the story to meet their ends.
