  1. Susie, I thought the NYTimes policy for reading articles was that clicking through on Times’ URL’s used in blogs didn’t count against the 10 free reads. But, when I was reading your second link, to the story on –OMG– possible loss of ozone protection over the mid-latitudes, meaning in this study the US, a note came on the screen saying this was my 5th free article out of 10. I can’t recall if it came up on the first or second page.

Anyway, just wondering. Was I wrong? Or…has there been a policy change? Are you aware of any changes? T/U.

I hadn’t realized plants also could be damaged, sunburned, by loss or lower amounts of protective ozone. Talk about unintended consequences and, once again, using chemicals we think are perfectly safe can have dire and longlasting effects.

    Hope you’re feeling better.

  2. Cap and Trade Bill. Also known as the Emissions Trading Plan. Why is this a ‘good’ piece of legislation? Some of the items in the bill make sense. But the bill taken as a whole is crap. It’s just another sop (buying and selling pollution on the open market) to the Capitalists to go along with what should to be done anyway. In the same way the individual mandate was in the health care bill.
