This is the most significant post of the day. The Republicans know the economy is headed here. The urgency to “fix” Medicare is much more political than financial. The critical mass is going to shift in response to these economics as more people approach retirement without the resources to get there. The fiction is that Medicare can go insolvent at the expense of young workers. Never and the elites see it! The numbers are going to pile up against them of those utterly dependent on entitlements to retire and the young will be foremost in that group. The more this economy delivers on low wages, the more deficits loom as the delivery mechanism. The later that this is addressed the better. It will not be long before tampering becomes political suicide. The people who profess to be the adults in the room are gilded robber barons trying to lock in advantage. A later solution comes from their lucre by dint of democracy.
