According to this, I’ll be flooded with as little as a two-foot storm surge.

Your landlady, despite her position as an authority figure, likely doesn’t know bupkiss dick about what’s coming, which is an historical weather event outside of just about everyone’s experience. Do not take her word for anything you cannot confirm independently. If you doubt your safety and have a safer place to go, by all means go there as soon as is reasonably possible. The whole idea behind being safe is for life to be boring and drama free; that’s the definition of safe. Be safe.
