  1. Yes and no on this one. As to Jensen’s comment “…Then why now, with all the world at stake, do so many people retreat into these entirely personal “solutions”?…”

    Part of it is to do a “Step 1” on practicing some new skills, and see where else they may apply.

    Jensen derides taking a shorter shower. But doing that might lead you to think “where else is the supply going to come from if the municipal pumps stop running”? And so, you find you might add some rain barrels around your place; you find you might start tinkering with the topography so as to create some depressions such the water does something other than drain away as fast as possible.

    In other words, little steps you might take will help you become more independent. The dumbest thing to do, which Jensen seems to advocate is to go kamikaze over the hill screaming you’re going to overthrow Corporate America.

    Corporate America would love it if we were that dumb. Practice up your independent living skills first – and keep in touch with who else is doing that.

    Ditto goes for keeping in touch with people and organizations that actually practice democracy. Things need to be built up from the grass roots first.
