First album I bought was Magical Mystery Tour, because one side was solid hit singles.
Cost me $3.69 at Tempo. Accompanying booklet full of hallucinatory photographs. Blue Jay Way. I Am The Walrus.
Permanently warped my personality.
The first album I bought was the BeeGees “Idea” – their version of a “Hippy” album. “Music from Big Pink” was a couple years later, when my tastes started to develop some maturity. Still have it, although my turntable has been dead about 10 years.
The first album I ever bought was the Original Broadway Cast recording of “The Music Man.”
