If you read the comments here at Gawker, you’ll see that all these years later, people are convinced they know the facts of the famous McDonald’s coffee case — even though they were just spun by the tort reform machine.

It’s probably in that clip which I haven’t watched, but the interesting bit for me was why McD’s kept the coffee so scalding. That way the aroma volatilizes through the restaurant better and people buy more stuff. The fact that people kept suffering bad burns because of it was not McD’s problem. Until one little old lady decided to fight them.
