I saw it yesterday and loved it. I was surprised, because a couple of friends told me it sucked. Well, they were wrong.
Jennifer Lawrence earned that Golden Globe she won last night. Holy shit, she’s just fabulous as the possibly bipolar Long Island housewife married to Christian Bale’s conman. And Amy Adams (who won Best Actress) is delicious as Bale’s lover and partner in crime. Great fun, great acting.
And from now on, I will only refer to my microwave as my “science oven.”
“Hustle” reflects its world and the Scorsese film an other. Those are scams we can do nothing about. Except to reflect upon. Here’s a scam that we can do something about. Abdullah Abdullah is again seeking to become the president of Afghanistan. The CIA tried its best to get him elected the last time, but their ballot box stuffing fell far short and Karzai won. Abdullah is our man in Afghanistan. He will allow our troops to stay in his country until “2024 and beyond.” In order to get reelected Karzai is distancing himself from the U.S and our demand to keep thousands of troops in his country…….forever. If elected Abdullah’s term in office will be very, very short. The Taliban will see to that.
Looking forward to seeing this one. Treated myself to rental movie binge over the holidays and saw Lawrence and Adams in various not-as-famous work. Led me to appreciate how much better both of them are than I had realized. Pleased to hear they won those awards.
