The lives of the poor

Yes, the poor have flat-screen TVs and cell phones. So? What has that got to do with the lack of living wages, affordable rent and the ability to make your living expenses?

Funny, how even otherwise thoughtful people defend the right of employers to keep as much of their money as possible, and expect the employees to live on what’s left over.

H/t to Seth Okin.

  1. Some Democrats claim that Sen. Tom Coburn is a pretty reasonable guy. The kind of Republican that they can work with. Yesterday this reasonable Republican voted against raising the minimum wage….once again. Coburn represents the establishment laissez faire capitalists in both political parties who believe that markets—-free markets—–are the key to our continuing wealth and freedom. As long as we allow folks like Coburn, Clinton and those of their ilk to represent us in congress and in the presidency, the ranks of the poor will keep growing. For proof of that simply review the history of the United States over the last 30 years.
