Seems like Harry’s been a little bit off the reservation lately:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the man who has the most control over what moves and what does not in the U.S. Senate, said he cannot support controversial Georgia judicial nominee Michael Boggs.
The day after Boggs’ contentious hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Reid tells Buzzfeed that at this point he is against Boggs’ nomination:
“I’ve not talked to [Judiciary Chairman] Pat Leahy personally. I will do that,” Reid said in an interview with BuzzFeed. “Unless I have a better explanation. I can’t vote for him. This is a lifetime appointment. He’s said some things and made some decisions I think are not very good.” …
White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday that the president believes “each senator should vote as he sees fit” however Obama disagrees “with anyone…who believes Boggs is not qualified for this post.”
“Boggs is not somebody I’m going to vote for unless I have some explanations on why he did that deal with the rebel flag and things he’s said about abortion,” Reid reiterated.
Reid said he had not spoken with the White House yet about his objections, but he planned to speak with Georgia Congressman and civil rights hero John Lewis about the nomination.
“John Lewis is my man in Georgia,” he said.

How about David Barron? Reid said nothing about this Harvard nominee. Barron was the legal mind who wrote the opinion for Obama claiming that killing a US citizen in Yemen with a drone missile was perfectly lawful. Boggs is bad, but David Barron is far worse. Reid seems to pick and choose who’s good and who’s bad. According to Reid the Koch brothers are evil, but Nevada billionaire Adelson is a real fine fellow. I wouldn’t piss on Reid if he was on fire.
Well we can hope, but I’ll believe it when they send Boggs packing.
