Restaurant scene

This song always reminds me of the alcoholic judge I used to date. He refused to leave the county — I dragged him to dinner in the city once and he practically broke out into a cold sweat until he realized there was steak on the menu. (He had this idea that I was a vegetarian, despite no actual evidence.) One of the things I really hated was how he was always doing political glad-handing, even in restaurants — he’d hop out of his seat and go around the room, shaking hands. It made me think of something a former big-name politician told me: “You can always tell the real powers in the room because they stay in one place.
