Thankful?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING #thanksgiving2016

Not sure what to be thankful for this year, except maybe that I’m still alive. Looking forward to losing my health insurance and watching as the GOP vultures destroy Medicare and Social Security, just as I’m within reach.

It’s going to be a long, hard fight. I hate these fuckers.

  1. At least a compliant Democrat won’t be president won’t be proposing a Grand Bargain while they do that.

  2. trump couldn’t walk in John Gotti’s shadow. Out next prez is the biggest mobster since Capone, IMHO……………………….

  3. A Thanksgiving wish to you Susie. Medicare and Social Security are safe in the near term. The Republicans can spin these programs however they want, but telling retires and those near that they have something better is the stuff of a tsunami. They need either Democratic or AARP cover. AARP had huge fall out from embracing the last “reform”. How Republicans got the senior vote is a mystery. Losing it is easy and they vote in anger with a vengeance.

  4. I happen to be wired into a Medicare Advantage private Insurer that has a contract with Medicare. I can only imagine the backlash from seniors like me AND the private insurance companies if the rethugs try to eliminate Medicare.: can you say political bloodbath? In fact, the only real option to what we have is Medicare-for-all (a public option) regardless of age or income. Today, even WITH Medicare, I’m unable to pay all the doctor and hospital shit I’m dealing with. Someone in Washington better wise-up before the whole goddamned system comes tumbling down. The idiots who have voted to allow the thugs to take full control of the federal gummit will soon know what “buyers remorse” is really about. (And, what the fuck does “repeal and replace” really mean? Anyone have a clue???).

  5. “Repeal and replace” is: a] Repeal the ACA [Obamacare], and b] Replace with huge tax breaks for Big Pharma and Big Insurance. Just as his infrastructure plan is big tax breaks for anyone who ‘invests’ in roads bridges, dams, and ports. Nothing in his plans about funding actual care or actual projects, just tax breaks for those at the top who don’t really need them. Lining the Trump pockets is high on his list.
Our economy is and has always been demand driven. The 40-year experiment in supply-side economics [job-creator focused] has been a huge wealth redistribution. Upwards. A “job-creator” can build a widget factory, but if nobody can afford widgets, they shut down the factory. A demand for widgets by a population with ‘some’ discretionary income is the true job creator.
Trump has been robbing Peter to pay Paul, and then stiffing Paul and keeping the money for so long that he believes this is how a good business is run. He’s a walking Ponzi scheme. Hard to say what this all means for all of us 60-somethings, but the ancient Chinese curse has finally come true: “May you live in interesting times”
