Four votes down

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT)

Not just the motion to proceed, but the healthcare bill itself. At least in this current version, it’s dead.

Mind you, these senators won’t back it because it’s not “conservative” enough. Stay tuned for developments.

  1. With the Democrats in Congress being completely uncooperative—–good for them—-and the crazy extremist right wing of the Republican Party unwilling to settle on any legislation that doesn’t reflect their silly ideology of lassie faire capitalism and zero government, nothing will ever pass in the Senate.

  2. McConnell is now trying to pass a repeal-only, no replace bill. So we’ll have to see whether we can get three “moderate” defections, as full repeal, no replace is exactly what the hard-liners want, and I can’t see Ryan having too much difficulty getting it through the house.

  3. Because the Gulags were too forgiving. “Nein, nyet and nicht!” The Freedom Caucus

  4. What the neo-liberal Democrats in congress want to do is to save the health insurance industry.

Schumer has been saying that for months.

That plan is as bad as the “free market” “for-profit” plan being offered by the Republicans.

Single-payer/Medicare for all is the only answer.
