We’ll see how effective it was after the 2018 mid-terms. With any luck Mercer’s “success” will have created a backlash from which the GOP will never recover.
Trump supports the Koch’s political vision and the Mercer’s support the Bannon/Miller point-of-view.
When Alabama voters chose the Mercer/Bannon/Miller candidate (Moore) over the Koch/Trump candidate (Strange) the two sides went to war against each other.
That primary loss embarrassed Trump (and the Koch’s) to the core, and it’s never a good idea to embarrass Trump because he will get even.
