Why did they feel it necessary to publish this? This description really narrows it down:
Breaking News: The whistle-blower is said to be a CIA officer who was assigned to work at the White House. His complaint suggests he is a trained analyst. https://t.co/wA0GOwwiWX

Trump just said that the whistleblower should be punished with death.
During the Bush administration it was right wing media who revealed Valerie Plame's identity.
Is the NYT now working with Trump? https://t.co/mH1vQ4eTeI

His identity would have been made public sooner or later.
It’s never a good idea for a president to go after the “Deep State” or if you prefer the intelligence industry.
Early in 1963 John Kennedy said that after the Bay of Pigs debacle he “wanted to splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.”
On November 22, 1963 he was assassinated.
Now comes Trump.
He will be brought down by a male CIA operative who wrote a near perfect whistleblower complaint and then followed the process with zero missteps.
This is a serious problem for the American people regardless of their tribal affiliation.
Why has the CIA become a paramilitary organization with it’s weapons arsenal and a drone fleet equipped with Hellfire missiles?
