  1. Norman Greenbaum was my first concert, at the Muni Auditorium in Eureka. I think I was eight and my sister was twelve. We had to leave after his set because our folks were picking us up, but as we were leaving, Joy of Cooking took the stage and I wanted to stay and watch them SO BAD, and that is how I developed an early taste for rock concerts.

  2. My dad was pals with Norman – and Norman is still alive. He’d give vinyl copies of the album as a wedding gift, both brothers got one. Our friend forgot to pick up Norman and so he sat at home in his suit with my album and I’m still sad. We played Spirit in the Sky to conclude the memorial service for mom, then for dad. Norman made the best french onion soup you ever could hope to eat.

  3. Oh no! That makes me so sad, thinking about Norman just sitting there. P.S. I plan to have Spirit in the Sky at my own funeral.
