On the road down the mountain from here to Oakhurst, it looks like about two thirds of the standing timber is dead. Which helps explain how last year’s “Creek Fire”, four ridges East of here became the largest single (not a complex of) wildfire in California history.
Studies this year have found that the fuel load has less moisture in it than at almost any other recorded point, so the wildfire season is expected to be severe this year.
Friends cancelled building their house. I can put down a decorative stone floor in a little work room out side for the cost of 3 sheets of 4X8 plywood.
