I think you really need to be at a university to get the best examples of just putting the turkey in the oven.
We get a lot of ‘waifs and strays’ feasts: people who haven’t gone home for the meal and are making do. They’re the best by the way. Great fun and loved ones far away. 😛
Well, one student was going to cook the turkey, but forgot to defrost it overnight. And who gets up at 4AM to start cooking anyway? So the frozen bird went in the oven about 8AM for a meal where everyone was supposed to arrive around 2 PM.
The skin was nicely roasted. Always the best part anyway. And about half an inch underneath that. For the rest, we ordered in pizza.
