Obeying in advance

Ratings for Morning Joe (and MSNBC) have dropped through the floor since the election. Personally, I stopped watching because I blame them for the systematic and gleeful undermining of Joe Biden’s credibility — one of the best presidents we’ve ever had. They had nothing else for which they could attack him, so they turned him into a drooling idiot just for shits and giggles.

Humiliation is what Trump lives for. I’m so tired of people thinking it will ever be different. He is a monster.

  1. Did you watch that debate? Uncle Joe is, ah, diminished. Putting him on that stage by Jill and his handlers was elder abuse. All in the grand tradition of concealed Presidential infirmities; see Wilson, Roosevelt. Pointing out his disability was only revealing reality, although taking pleasure in it is pathetic.

It begs the key question: Who is actually running the country?

Yes, the Biden admin did accomplish much. But it wasn’t enough, wasn’t felt by working class voters of all races and ethnicities, or by youth. See election. And like the constant deceptive claims that Joe was “OK,” trumpeting the robust health of the economy based on stock market highs and opportunistic corporate profits fell as flat as a pancake. Nancy’s take (there’s nothing wrong with the Democratic Party, it was all Joe’s fault) is delusional denial.

The Biden administration’s unqualified support of the genocide in Gaza encouraged Israel to spread their atrocities to the West Bank, Lebanon, and to bait Iran into an action that could lead to (nuclear?) war. Harsh, selective supression of campus protests resulted in the expected reactionl. Sending $112B to Ukraine while homelessness becomes a growing epidemic in US cities, infrastructure crumbles and millions go without adequate or any health care coverage does encourage belief in a “make America great” gut reaction by many.

I never watch Morning Joe (or any other TV “news” coverage), but getting an interview with the recently elected President of the United States does seem like a coup. Challenging him strongly on his (execrable) personality, policy prescriptions, and prospective appointments runs counter to acknowledging his overwhelming reelection, wherein he brought the House and the Senate with him. He already had SCOTUS. Unified government indeed.

Normalized? What exactly is normal after an election like that?

Resistance is futile? Maybe, unless the Dems embrace “…’fore you ‘cuse me,…take a look at yourself.” See: https://theintercept.com/2024/11/18/democratic-party-reform-organizing/
