I’ve read that Lennon was insecure about his comeback (and specifically his singing voice for some reason) and so he insisted the producer overload the album with extra overdubs.
I prefer this version of “Cleanup Time” with all the extra AOR stuff removed. “Make a ring around the world!” was unfortunately buried in the original mix.
