Now I’m one of those old people who complains constantly about the weather. It’s been like autumn here for the past six weeks or so. Cool bright days, weeks of cold rain, occasional day of Indian summer. It’s actually pleasant, but the thing is, we haven’t had autumn in years — and now we have it in spring. This climate change thing is hard to ignore.

“The summer forecast calls for hotter-than-normal temperatures from coast-to-coast, according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center and other private forecasters.

“Model guidance was overwhelmingly above normal across the U.S. and most of Alaska for the upcoming summer season,” Johnna Infanti, meteorologist for NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center told USA TODAY via email.
