Christie and the bridge

George Washington Bridge

You’ll remember I wrote about this last week, after a Christie political appointee closed a lane on the George Washington Bridge (if you’ve ever driven across the GW, you know why) to punish a NJ mayor who wouldn’t back Christie’s reelection.

Now it’s turning into a big deal, and a big problem for Christie. What a schmuck

  1. I blew by this last week not really paying attention. I just saw Maddow do a spot on it. Whether Christie knew or not, his management culture is pretty apparent. Petty and vindictive pretty much covers it.

  2. For some reason, Gov. Lapband feels the need to obstruct (or even abort) Hudson River crossings. (Remember that he cancelled an approved and paid-for rail tunnel project soon after taking office.)
What an evil putz this guy is.

  3. WNYC’s NJ news team has been all over this issue, bless them.

The station is doing great work on local issues. One of the most moving was a piece done by a young reporter, now working for Planet Money, about going to low income housing and days after Sandy hit. (Her piece won a documentary news award.) The coverage had to be really embarrassing for Bloomberg, but it’s wonderful how being a billionaire can limit one’s ability to feel shame.
