What the fuck did Obama and the Congress think they were doing when they hacked the budget to shreds?
Seriously. As MLK said, a budget is a moral document. The Republicans decided (and the administration colluded) to cut the shit out of everything except the money that went to defense contractors. (Maybe if the VA was outsourced to private companies, they might have stayed their cuts.)
But are we really supposed to be surprised? Are we really not supposed to connect the dots between Obama’s need to validate Republican thinking and the shredding of needed services? These are the inevitable results of his fixation on cutting deals with the devil.
What’s interesting is that how the VA operates has now turned into another Obama scandal. As you correctly point out the VA has been underserving veterans for over a hundred years. Benghazi, IRS, Health and Human Services, the VA are all scandals. More will be coming. It appears that the Republicans are going to air all the governments dirty laundry while Obama is still in office. Although some Republicans are becoming faint of heart when it comes to the Benghazi investigation. Guys like Mike Rogers don’t want Gowdy to dig too deeply into this matter. Lest we all learn that the CIA was responsible for the “grass roots revolt” that removed Qaddafi from office. Or the fact that the CIA is currently trying to install its own General Khalifa Haftar (now called Hifter) as Libya’s new leader. Gen. Haftar or Hifter attacked Parliament on Sunday so the war is on.
