Although it didn’t pass, the budget amendment calling for the expansion of Social Security yesterday had 42 Democratic Senators on the record in favor. That is huge. Kudos to Elizabeth Warren, Joe Manchin, Sherrod Brown, Patty Murray and Brian Schatz, who did the work.

Tom Carper and Heidi Heidkamp were the two Democratic holdouts.
