The US government will come under intense pressure this week to explain what action it took after receiving a massive cache of leaked data that revealed how the Swiss banking arm of HSBC, the world’s second-largest bank, helped wealthy customers conceal billions of dollars of assets.

The leaked files, which reveal how HSBC advised some clients on how to circumvent domestic tax authorities, were obtained through an international collaboration of news outlets, including the Guardian, the French daily Le Monde, CBS 60 Minutes and the Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

DOUGLAS COUNTY — ATLANTA, Ga. — A gunman has shot six people west of Atlanta, killing four, including a 7-year-old child.

The shooters identity has not been released. He shot six people before he shot and killed himself, said Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel.

The 7-year-old, two adults and another minor were killed. Two children sustained life-threatening injuries.
Daniel told CNN that investigators were “still trying to sort this out” when asked whether the gunman and his victims were related.

Brian Williams takes himself off NBC newscast

From what I read, Tom motherfucking Brokaw, the flag pin-wearing war cheerleader for our Iraq invasion under false pretenses, was the main person egging on NBC management to can Brian Williams. Oh, if only we had real honesty in broadcasting! Still waiting for that special on the TPP:

Sources tell FTVLive that NBC News President Deborah Turness is strongly considering having Brian Williams step down, maybe as early as next week.

[…] Sources say that Turness has not yet decided what to do with Williams but is “leaning in the direction” of having him step down.

Sources tell FTVLive that Turness has short list of replacements for Williams and the names could raise a few eyebrows.

They are – Lester Holt, Jose Diaz Balart, and Peter Alexander.
