Leading false Christian Donald E. Wildmon (see “By their works, ye shall know them) claims victory for Dick Durbin’s apology in an email:
Sen. Dick Durbin has apologized for his remarks comparing American troops to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot. Durbin’s apology came after approximately 140,000 AFA On-Line supporters sent e-mails directly into his office calling for an apology.
Earlier, Durbin had adamantly refused to apologize. However, when the e-mails just kept coming, on Tuesday the senator went to the Senate floor to apologize.
While there were no doubt other factors which played into his decision to apologize, the only new factor following his refusal were the e-mails.
We don’t know what Durbin was thinking, but I hope that email from 140,000 fundamentalists was not enough.
