Despicable

The following exchange between Fox News host Brian Kilmeade and Fox News business contributor and substitute host Stuart Varney occurred during breaking news coverage of the attacks on London subways and buses on the July 7 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends:
KILMEADE: And he [British Prime Minister Tony Blair] made the statement, clearly shaken, but clearly determined. This is his second address in the last hour. First to the people of London, and now at the G8 summit, where their topic Number 1 –believe it or not– was global warming, the second was African aid. And that was the first time since 9-11 when they should know, and they do know now, that terrorism should be Number 1. But it’s important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world’s advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened.
VARNEY: It puts the Number 1 issue right back on the front burner right at the point where all these world leaders are meeting. It takes global warming off the front burner. It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.
KILMEADE: Yeah.
Oh. How very fortunate for the wingnuts. And how very small of the rest of us to think of anything else.

Wow! The Neo-con mouthpiece is seriously brazen with the message that the world is to get from the London bombings.
The Neo-cons really think we’re stupid. I guess 50% really are.
Hmmm, so the bombings turn out to be *convenient* for the admin’s pet projects. Hmmmm …
Don’t they see if the G8 members don’t tackle these global health issues, the terrorists will win through the addition of new, desperate recruits?
Starving people don’t mind becoming suicide bombers, if their families get fed. People stressed through environmental decline don’t mind being recruited by fundamentalists.
The criminals behind this bombing wanted *all* reform movements — G8, the Plame investigation, war profiteering probes — off the front page. Whether or not they’re affiliated with Al-Q, they want world discord, and as usual, FOX isn’t helping.
I would say that the only despicable thing is your response. You people are blind and that’s a diagnosis. Pathetic indeed
[...] “Fox News is talking about the London bombing like it’s a good thing.” Susie Madrak: “Despicable.” [...]
Well, Dr. Sanity, there really isn’t a good estimate on how much death and destruction global warming may or may not cause. But the African aid issue is, by any rational measure of death and destruction and global economic impact, far larger than terrorism. Not as frightening, not as cool to watch on TV, but much more relevant, and in the long run more likely to have an impact on the life of the average person, even in areas not directly involved.
But what do I know - I’m one of those liberals who think that giving a terrorist a fair and open trial so the world can see what a pathetic loser he is, and then locking him away forever, is an adequate substitute for bombing the crap out of a third party. By the way - Bin Laden is still out there and the guys who did the first WTC bombing are still locked up.
