While a giant section of the Superdome roof has just peeled away, well-paid anchor twit Soledad O’Brien interviews Sen. Mary Landrieu.
She keeps making snippy comments about the 20% of the New Orleans citizens who didn’t leave: “Are they just complacent?” You know, in that smarmy, fake concern they like to simulate.
Landrieu pointed out that some people couldn’t leave - they had no transportation, no money, no place to go.
I wonder if Soledad was that stupid when she started, or does she work out to maintain her cluelessness? I wish she’d trade places with Anderson Cooper and we’d get to see her decapitated live on CNN.
Oh. Did I just say that out loud?

Susan! Yes, you did say that out loud. Now the FBI is going to tap your phone for sure.
By the way, I really like the new look.
She is so clueless. Has she even reported on the gas and oil industry in LA. If they are impacted by this storm…gas prices will increase.
Maybe a mob of New Orleans refugees stuck in the Super Dome will lynch her on national TV. Or they will simply expel her from the dome and force her to survive the hurricaine outdoors with nothing but an umbrella and a cigerette lighter. Shouts of “who’s complacent now?!” accompany her march out of the dome.
Refresh my memory, but isn’t The Superdome in New Orleans? I don’t see how that’s any safer than anywhere else were the leeve to break and the city is up to the second floor in water, sewage, oil, gas, diesel not to mention all manner of other vermin (the non-human variety), rodents, snakes and alligators.
Nice new look, a real eye-opener.
Darryn Kagan is on deck now and the collective IQ just went down.
“Darryn Kagan is on deck now and the collective IQ just went down.”
and that was no small task.
I remember Soledad O’Brien as a local reporter here in the San Francisco Bay Area. She used to be quick and bright, bordering on intrepid.
But then I briefly felt that way about Diane Sawyer, long ago when she was reporting from Three Mile Island.
Time, money, celebrity, and yes, complacency doth emulsify the character of even them what once had smarts.
It’s so “let them eat cake” of O’Brien.
Soledad O’Brien and Shepard Smith (FNC) share a brain. I just can’t figure out which one of their asses it’s stuck in.
[...] 4:50pm: I don’t have cable, so I’ve been spared the cable networks’ coverage of this catastrophe. I’m happy to have avoided some of the low lights (hat tips: Rowhouse Logic, Blinq). But I’m tired of the local coverage about what Tropical Depression Katrina will do to Philly weather this weekend. [...]
