DeLay Indicted in Texas Campaign Finance Probe

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, an indictment that could force him to step down as House majority leader.

UPDATE: Raw Story reports David Dreier (R-CA), everyone’s favorite closeted Republican, will take over as leader temporarily.

Seriously, in general, I am always saddened to see a political figure indicted. I am a liberal, but it bought me no pleasure to see a Republican Governor in the state I was raised in, go down because he was corrupt. The big problem has been that this administration and its supportors are so incredibly corrupt and no one has had the authority to do anything about it. It brings new and awful meaning to “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely.”

It’s interesting to me how many are convinced Earle is a partisan, when 12 of the 15 politicians he’s indicted were dems.
