Anticipation

There was much barely restrained glee at Drinking Liberally tonight. After all, it’s not every day we have rumors of Dick Cheney’s possible resignation, or of 22 likely indictments against BushCo. (I tried to get a chorus of “Na Na Hey Hey, Kiss Him Goodbye” going with Anita but no one else would join in - I think people were afraid of jinxing the whole thing.)
I also tried to sell people on the single most important piece of legislation for next year’s Democratic Congress - forced sterilization of Jenna and Not-Jenna. “The dynasty stops here,” I said.
Duncan said he liked the idea, but pointed out it would be a bill of attainder. (Oh well.) Nonetheless, the regulars were sympathetic to the idea. (Duncan also said he hoped the indictments were announced early in the morning, so he would have an excuse to drink all day. “St. Patrick’s Day,” I said, making a pun.)
Jeremy kept saying this was really the best part - the anticipation. Maybe he’s right and it’s all downhill from here, but boy, it sure is fun.
By the way, for locals: The local chapter of Democracy for America is meeting at Fergie’s (12th and Sansom) as soon as indictments are announced - revelers are expected to do one shot per indictment. Everyone is welcome.

I hate to see expectations set so high when it would be sufficient to see Rove depart. Now, if we get less than the latest rumors, some will say it was not as bad as expected.
And the bottom line here is if someday in the next decade, a rogue regime nails us with a nuke, the survivors will be left to wonder if its development would have been prevented if Valerie Plame had been allowed to continue in her job.
I don’t care if it was Cheney or some low-level functionary who did her in. It only matters to me that the guilty instigator gets properly hung by their withered balls for their traitorous act.
Can I still have 22 shots if there’s only 1 indictment?
[...] Just in case you haven’t read it everywhere else, the liberal blogosphere has found its ultimate fantasy in a rumor. [...]
Dream on…..how terrible hoping that the
VP or Rove is guilty. Only proving you do not truly hope for good for this country.
You will see, neither of the BIG DOGS will be indicted….
sick

However nothing prevents a congressional resolution proclaiming the President as a horse’s ass. Actually one joker here in Washington state tried to have a ballot initative saying just that about Tim Eyeman, this guy who kept proposing these moronic initatives that kept getting struck down as unconstitutional after they passed.

J, I’m afraid you haven’t been following current affairs for the last five years. Rove and Cheney have been malevolent and destructive forces, and removing them from office IS good for the country.
I hate to be a wet blanket…..
But the PBS Torture show was on tonight. I briefly blogged on it. I’m pretty bummed about now……

Wasn’t the Schaivo thing also a Bill of Attainder?
