Hard to believe a big GOP campaign donor doesn’t take worker safety seriously.
All five of BP Plc’s U.S. oil refineries have significant safety problems due to company complacency, an investigative panel headed by former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker said Tuesday.
“Instances of a lack of operating disciplines, toleration of serious deviations from safe operating practices, and apparent complacency toward serious process safety risks existed at each of the U.S. refineries,” the panel said in a report released Tuesday.
The report was commissioned by federal safety investigators reviewing a blast that killed 15 workers at BP’s refinery in Texas City, Texas, on March 23, 2005, which was the worst U.S. industrial accident in more than 10 years.
I hope Republicans who think they vote the way they do only to keep their tax bills low realize what else their votes make possible. Remember what they always say about accountability?
