Youth For Christ officials said Saturday the center for teenagers will be closed until further notice following accusations that the director had a sexual relationship with a girl beginning when she was 13 years old.
Martin Moore, 42, handed in his letter of resignation Thursday and was arrested later that day on sexual battery charges. He remained in the Sarasota County jail Saturday on $251,000 bond.




As part of the requirements for our insurance company, our church was required to implement a child-protection policy, including training for all adults who work with minors, background and reference checks, and a probationary period. A key part of this policy is the “two adult” rule - stating that a minor can never be alone with just one adult.
So how are situations like this one happening? This organization will never be able to get the insurance they would need to reopen, in the face of this kind of negligence, which is not a bad thing, but still. Were they ineffective, or willfully negligent?
I mean, you can pooh-pooh people and their concerns about kid safety, but you don’t wanna f*** with the insurance companies!
KidRanger - Interesting point, but if your main interest in religion is that it allows you to molest kids (and maybe hustle a few bucks out of their folks), you’re probably not going to bother with insurance.
