Oh Christmas Tree

My friend Lynn sent a box of Christmas ornaments to my office today, and my co-workers oohed and ahhed as I pulled them from the box. Our office manager was especially inspired by a snowman that had psychedelic lights in its base at the flip of a switch; she insisted we turn out the office lights and sing “Oh Christmas Tree” while the lights flashed in the dark.
She even printed out lyrics and passed them around, but after the first verse, with her nose wrinkled, announced, “This is a really long song.” So we stopped.
Still, it inspired me and when I got home, I pulled out the artificial Christmas tree (no lectures, I’m allergic) I’d gotten at CVS that was still stashed in the trunk of my car. Even though it’s a small tree (four and a half feet), it took me a while to clear a spot big enough to put it.
It’s been years since I lived in an apartment big enough for a tree and it really makes the new place feel like home.
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
How beautiful thy branches!

mine’s fake too, but only because it’s so hard to thread those color changing fiber optics through a real tree.
I only have room for a little table top tree, not big enough for lights, but I’ve been collecting some antique ornaments.
Here’s hoping someone sends you an Eagles ornament for Christmas…
I’m surprised by this.
I have my grandmother’s tinsel tree, the kind you see in antique stores for a fortune. She was terribly afraid of fire, and wouldn’t have a live tree because of it. It makes me feel at home.
Good to see you settling into your place so nicely, Susie.
I’m glad you’re getting settled in -1 hate moving worse than almost anything. Blessings of the seasons, babe.
(I’m trying out a tablet. It’s almost working).
