I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the snide moral superiority, how thin-skinned the followers are, the willingness to equate belonging to this Very Special Group with salvation. Dear God, don’t these people have a life?

The funny thing about this is that twas always thus, from their first announcement of the Macintosh where they were taking on IBM until Microsoft buried them in the mid 90’s and Apple became the anti-Microsoft brand.

I used to run an Apple user group in Arizona.

It’s uncanny how people invest their ego on the computer that they use when in reality, there are very few people that I have ever met in my life that the choice of computer that they use has little to no relevance to their work output. It’s entirely psychological and well, we can see the psychological benefits/detriments for using Apple.

I wish these people would use that energy to get local democrats elected or to stop the war.

Oh dear, Suzie. Were you around during the real cult wars of the eighties and nineties? Now that was serious warfare. Bulletin boards (the pre-Web version of blog comments) were scorched by hundreds of vicious attacks from both sides, Apple vs PC. Later it was Apple vs Windows. Those times are long gone.

This silly puffup over the iPhone is a totally different creature. Most iPHone users are probably not old enough to remember any Mac OS before X. Anyway the iPhone is not a Windows killer, it’s an all in in one phone, camera, text-r, email and web browser thingee. If there is a cult around the iPhone is doesn’t have much to do with old Apple cult.
