This post is priceless:
I wrote the other day that a Palin spokeswoman said trips to Germany, Kuwait and Ireland made up her foreign travel.
Two details worth clarifying:
The Ireland trip was a refueling stop on her trip to military installations in Germany and Kuwait, spokeswoman Maria Comella said.
And she’s also visited Canada, another spokesman, Ben Porritt, says.
I’m being beginning to suspect that McCain’s top advisers have never seen a presidential campaign before and they wouldn’t know one if they saw it. Why else would they have tried to pass off a layover as foreign travel? Did they think that adding a third country to the list would make it so impressive that it was worth the 0.01% chance that they wouldn’t get called on it?
I’ll add that that I think the extent of person’s foreign travel is a mostly useless measure whether somebody should, or shouldn’t be president, but it’s one that comes up. People who have seen a presidential campaign before know this.

This whole Palin thing has gotten surreal. I’ve been reading all day, rethugs with a straight face saying Ms. Palin is a world traveler (who got her passport only a couple of years ago), she has better executive experience because she’s been Governor of Alaska (for 18 months), she’s a foreign policy expert because Alaska’s so close to Russia, she’s a defense expert because she’s the titular head of the Alaska National Guard (who actually isn’t briefed on national defense issues). The offspring brouhaha would be totally irrelevant, if rethugs had campaigned on any other issue over the past twenty years. Now this AIP thing. I mean, WTF??
You’ll find all the info on Palin in Ireland on the website of the Irish blogger who questioned Palin’s trip.

add to the list of GOP bobbleheads recent remarks:
Touting Palin’s PTA experience as VPOTUS qualifications.
Sad days for democracy…
Joe,
say what you will, but Palin’s resume ought to boost PTA meeting attendance, now that it’s clearly the fast track to world-spanning power!
Oh wait, I think I just sprained something from laughing too hard….
My guess is that the 29%ers don’t really care about any of this. The rest of us should be mystified. WTF indeed. The next thing the Rs will say is that when she was Governor of Alaska, the Russians cancelled their plans to invade due to her strong foreign policy experience. This just shows that McSame doesn’t do well under pressure.
In 1964, I was treasurer of my Sunday School. In 1965-66, I was Hi-Y-YMCA youth governor of my state. I’ve been to Oktoberfest in Germany. In July, my wife and I took a Caribbean cruise. Until Sarah Palin had been tapped to be John McCain’s running mate, I had no idea that I had lead such an exotic and productive life. Now, with my broad experience in the world of finance and my foreign policy expertise validated, I expect to be named Secretary of State or Treasury Secretary in a McCain administration. Senator, I will be available for vetting anytime during working hours tomorrow.
