‘The thermometer’s broken’
Of course, if it wasn’t coming from a company that has already lied, exaggerated or miscontrued so much important information, we could listen to their suggestion of a broken thermometer with a straight face: Concern is growing that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan is no longer stable after temperature readings suggested one of its damaged reactors was reheating. The plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), said the temperature inside No 2 reactor – one of three that [...]

Cheaper
I know so many people who need medical care right this minute and aren’t getting it that I literally can’t keep track anymore. Let’s put it this way: By the time a TV network is holding a sweepstakes where the grand prize is a trip to New York for … a colonoscopy, you know paying for tests and treatment is on everyone’s minds. The scandal that the Repugs are ginning up may be questionable, but there is a Solyndra scandal nonetheless. They burned through nearly $600 million from the feds and the state of California in just a couple of years, and took in very little money in sales. There was apparently no realistic business plan. Government bureaucrats advised against making these loans, but were overruled. Why?
The author of this article is saying that we shouldn’t expect Solyndra execs to answer questions about what happened. OK, maybe not in a GOP kangaroo court, but they have to answer at some point.

I think Fioré explains it very well:
