We have had circuit judges do it here in WV. And several retired city cops have recyled themselves as county officials and mayors, etc. This is one justification people have for being angry about public employee pensions. It’s not about the garbage collectors and office clerks; it’s the police and firefighters who go on to live lordly second careers taking up jobs that other people could be doing.
