Perfectly consistent, Ron. Huge demonstrations about “let’s not rush to war in Iraq” a decade ago, but since mention of such a topic does not gibe with the preordained agenda of the corporate-military-security complex, no mention of such demonstrations are made.
I think at the federal level, and unfortunately even at the state level, expressing a thought that speaks well of the commons is futile. The horrible PTB do not listen to benevolent ideas. The only thing they respond to is what might reduce their power or enhance their power. Whenever given a choice between sustaining life on Earth, or further abusing and degrading the commons for the benefit of the few, they will always choose “benefit the few”.
Plant a tree. That is one of the very best things we can do.
