Back on the chained-CPI gang

Just FYI, White House National Economic Council director Gene Sperling said today on his Reddit chat that the president really prefers the Chained CPI and that it’s not just an inducement to get the Republicans on board with the Grand Bargain.

This may sound obvious, since it’s been clear from before the inauguration that the administration wants to “reform” the so-called entitlements. But Sperling made it clear today that they believe in this on the merits.

    Surprise! NOT.

Saying they “believe in this” is a bit of a stretch. They don’t believe in anything except self-aggrandizement and money (to them, the same thing). Also, “on the merits’ is a bit of a stretch, since there are no merits, unless you consider starving gramma to line their buddies’ (and soon their own) pockets meritorious. As you can see, I, along with millions of others, see this for exactly what it is. And I am appropriately enraged and sickened.

SHOCKED! Ha, ha, ha. Nothing “they” do does anymore.

And people voted for this guy because he wasn’t going to do this. Even though he said he was. Why do I have the sad feeling that come 2014 and 2016, they’ll glom on again to whoever gives them the most empty hopes?

@quixote: Not exactly a longshot. They have been doing it since 1992 and still haven’t learned. It takes a Depression to educate a Democrat.

    Evolution –
Catfood Commission I – The presumption was the the oldsters would be dining from a small tin of tuna and cheese.

Catfood Commission II with Chained CPI – The “catfood” noted above has changed.
    It is now a mouse.
This will rapidly deplete the population of less nimble, undeserving oldsters, and allow more funding for important things like drone missles.

“the catfood is now a mouse”

    It’s funny because it’s true.

(Somebody in Ryan’s entourage will stumble across this brilliant point and it’ll be a new item in his budget. Cost savings due to better health among seniors getting more exercise.)

@ quixote – ty. Once we accept the basic premise that there is no limit as to how low these guys will go, then we can just follow these things to a logical conclusion.
