The heat over Social Security will die down as the corporate media continues to push the company line that the chained CPI is a brave and noble solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Obama will have the entire summer to court and spark the Republicans he thinks he can woo to support it.

And then the shit will hit the fan in September, when the sequester’s continuing resolution expires, and this will pushed as part of a deal to settle it. Do not rest, do not assume Obama is going to let go of his shitty, undemocratic Grand Bargain.

When your congressperson is home for the summer, call and find out when they’re holding public meetings, make sure to attend and bring all your friends. We need to scare the shit out of these people. You saw how the teabaggers did it, now it’s our turn.

Besides Isakson, Rubio and Crapo, Sens. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), John Boozman (Ark.), Susan Collins (Maine), Mike Enzi (Wyo.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Pat Roberts (Kan.), John Thune (S.D.) Roger Wicker (Miss.) dined with Obama.

[…] After Wednesday night’s dinner, Obama has not recently dined with 21 Senate Republicans. They are: John Barrasso (Wyo.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), Thad Cochran (Miss.), John Cornyn (Texas), Ted Cruz (Texas), Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Dean Heller (Nev.), Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Mike Lee (Utah), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rand Paul (Ky.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Jim Risch (Idaho), Tim Scott (S.C.), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), Richard Shelby (Ala.) and David Vitter (La.).

Additionally, the two dinners have included all but three Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee: Cornyn, Grassley and Portman. The Finance panel oversees Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and taxes.

If any of these clowns represent you, keep the heat on. Don’t let them think they can get away with this.

Well said. Here are a few Democrats to screw with: Begich of Alaska, Pryor of Arkansas, Pelosi of California, Schumer of New York, and Menendez of New Jersey. It’s high time we beat the 1% at their own game. Remember there are more of us than there are of them. Millions and millions more.

I ALWAYS wonder why we “the people” don’t seem to realize how heavily “we” outnumber the 1% and easy it would be to put a stop to all of this if we could stick together for a few months – I guess that’s why the 1% has purchased all the police and military power…

Grocery line chat about Obama started when the checker told me I’d found some really good bargains (half off on some items near expiration date) — I said, “It’s my start on dealing with the Chained CPI. It’s substituting something cheaper for what you can’t afford any longer, and these are good but I can’t buy them at full price.”

I sort of –for me– briefly explained what Obama was proposing and that the effect would be small but compounded cuts to SocSec every year, building to larger amounts as we got older. Everyone who was in the 2-3 checkout lines to either side was listening intently. The checker said she is so angry, then under her breath said “This is from Obama?” I said absolutely; the Repubs have wanted to make cuts ever since FDR proposed SocSec, but Dems always fought them off. Until now, when this Dem prez is DOING IT. I said I want SocSec to be there for all our young people.

I added that ever since the mid-80′s everyone one who is eligible for SocSec has been paying extra in to cover the Baby Boomer bulge, but that money was used for tax cuts for the wealthiest and for wars, among other things. First time we’ve ever gone to war without paying for it. Then one woman said, well, we needed to go after Saddam after what he did to the Twin Towers.

I said we went after the wrong guy: Saddam and the people of Iraq had no WMD and had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11…the 9/11 attackers came mostly from Saudia Arabia and Yemen. Bin Laden was in Afghanistan.

The checker looked at me and said “I don’t know what to believe.”

Obama is destroying the belief of the basic Dem voters in the very meaning of the party.
