He’s running

Chris Christie had lap-band surgery — which, by the way, can be pretty dangerous. I’d looked into it myself but decided the health risks weren’t worth it; about 50 percent of them end up being removed due to complications. Of course, when you’re a millionaire with great health insurance, you may look at things a little differently.

  1. Even with this surgery, there is a life-long commitment to a change in eating habits.

  2. A neighbor I don’t know all that well had this surgery. She became the slimmest I’d ever seen her, then she disappeared for awhile, and when I saw her next she was as heavy or heavier than she had been.

Turns out she had severe problems due to the lap band, plus she continued eating and stretched the smaller stomach area out (hearsay from another neighbor). I don’t know the cause for her extended illness, but she was hospitalized for weeks. Band was removed.

  3. Scary, but let’s see how this works out for Crispy. His overeating is the stuff of legends in NJ.

  4. CC is smart enough to have done the risk/benefit analysis. It’s pretty hard to deny that he was morbidly obese. On this I wish him well.
