I suggest that the place to start cutting retirement money is with congresscritters and presidents, past and present. Lose their income, lose their health care, lose whatever perks for security and staff and everything.
I don’t care about ex-presidents, because they remain targets. But I think congressmen and senators should have to come up with their own health insurance when they lose their jobs, just like everyone else.
If I understand correctly, the vast majority of (long-time) CongressCritters & ex-Presidents are (multi-) millionaires, so the loss of retirement benefits, health-care plans, and perks would be only a minor annoyance to them. They deserve more. (Okay, with the possible exception of Carter and a few others.)
They deserve minimum wage and whatever insurance they can get and afford as we self-employed folks do: that is, none.
