When the Dems had the majority they didn’t know what the hell to do with it, so I say fuck ’em all!
Are Democrats totally incompetent — or do they actually have totally different goals than every Democrat I’ve ever known? Bush never had close to the votes in the Senate/House that Obama has. But, how many times was he denied something he really wanted? How many times did Dems cave and let the Republicans pass just about every piece of crap bill they wanted?
While the stated goals of Democrats are very different than Republicans, in actual practice there isn’t a dimes worth of difference between them.
PS, I’m seriously freaking out over the buildup to horrific changes to Social Security, especially (but not limited to) raising the retirement age to 70. How many people are going to be healthy enough to work to that age?
And who’s going to keep a 65 year old employed if they’ve got a choice of laying off a 65 year old or a 30 year old?
Look, it’s not a hard sell to get people to fight for social security. Get together with a group of people and make an appointment to see your congressmen and senators. You won’t get in to see them, but they’ll have a staffer meet with you and they’ll pass along your concerns.
The sense of helplessness comes from not taking action.
