I remember when I was a kid, back when America still had a middle class. Signs like those were everywhere.
IBEW, Local #98 – Yeah. Actually, my father was a member of IBEW, Local #3 in NYC. The Princes of NY’s trade unions. He became a member when the electrical contractor he worked for was organized. Unfortunately, by the 1980s he was a Reagan democrat — yes, we were middle income but not middle class.
“The folks who brought you the weekend” — what a great slogan for the labor movement!
